Osondu is a communications law, policy and strategy specialist who started his career in 1988 as a Research Assistant in the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice where he was actively involved in the law and policy reform efforts of the Federal Government. He was also a Research Fellow at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies where his focus was on Insolvency Law and Criminal Law.

Osondu has been actively involved in the development of Nigeria’s telecommunications industry policy and regulatory framework from its partial liberalization in the mid-90s through to the present day. He is an experienced regulator and business representative and this broad perspective serves him well as a strategic advisor and industry commentator.

At the Nigerian Communications Commission, he helped craft pioneering regulatory guidelines and, as Head of License Documentation, was responsible for drafting operating and frequency licenses, including the landmark GSM License Awards in 2001. He was a member of the Telecommunications Sector Reform Implementation Committee of the National Council on Privatization that drew up the National Telecommunications Policy of 2000, and was also actively involved in the conception and drafting of the Nigeria Communications Act 2003.

Following his career as a regulator, Osondu was hired by Econet Wireless Nigeria Limited (now Airtel Networks Limited) in 2002 where he rose to become Regulatory Affairs Director in 2008. During his tenure, Airtel developed its reputation as a thought leader on Communications Industry Policy and, in 2010, he was appointed as the Mobile Network Operators’ representative on the Ministerial Committee for the Review of the National Telecommunications Policy. Also, he was a member of the Presidential Committee that drafted the National Broadband Plan (2020-2025) as well as of the Expert Review Committee on the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, 2019.

An accredited intermediary of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), Osondu is also an experienced trainer who regularly facilitates classes on Corporate Law, regulatory compliance, Stakeholder Management and Sports Governance at the Lagos Business School and the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. He has been inducted among the One Hundred Leading Telecommunications and ICT Personalities in Nigeria by the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON).
