Chibuzo Christy Ezima

Chibuzo is a core member of our Corporate Commercial Practice Group and has over 15 years corporate advisory experience working with private companies and public corporations on diverse and wide-ranging transactions – Corporate Finance, Vessel Financing, International Joint Ventures, Mergers and Acquisition. She has also guided clients on lending facilities with financial Institutions and was part of the team that rendered advisory in a $45m Mall Development Project Loan Finance and a hybrid financing involving debt and medium-term loan. She regularly provides legal advisory services to startup businesses and new entrants into Nigerian markets, including a foreign-owned FINTECH entity on the applicable legal regime for its business operations.

Chibuzo has also been involved in a cross-border transaction involving Independent Power Project finance as well as business restructuring. As local Counsel on this transaction, she advised on the applicable regulatory regime in Nigeria which was crucial to help the stakeholders in their investment decision.

On account of her versatility, Chibuzo has handled various roles ranging from preparation, review and negotiation of complex commercial contracts (one of which led to the bidding and eventual winning of the concessions for the Calabar Terminal Port); acquisition and management buyout of Cement Company of Northern Nigeria and divestment of a major telecommunications company.  Also, she has hands-on company secretarial experience and has served the Boards of some prominent Nigerian companies where, among other accomplishments, she developed policy manuals and board charters.  Based on the experience garnered in this role, she is regularly sought out for advice on employee/ employer relationship, corporate governance and social responsibility.
